CactusVPN are an independent spirited, Moldova based VPN company with a good grassroots VPN service offering. They aren’t the most spoken about brand for sure, but they’re a viable option if you’re wanting a more independent, non corporate VPN provider.

Regarding their actual server location selection, they’re towards the lower end of the market, with a more basic selection.

CactusVPN offer 36 server locations in 22 countries, with most of their servers being located in the USA and Europe. No free servers are offered.

Let’s dig into their server selection in more detail.

Full List Of CactusVPN Server Locations

Here’s a full list of server countries/cities offered by CactusVPN

  • USA – New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, Dallas, Kansas City (2 locations), Atlanta
  • UK – London (4 locations)
  • Canada – Montreal (2 locations)
  • Brazil – Franca
  • Netherlands – Amsterdam
  • Germany – Nuremberg
  • Switzerland – Zurich
  • Spain – Barcelona
  • Latvia – Riga
  • Romania – Lipova
  • Italy – Ponte San Pietro
  • Portugal – Tomar
  • France – Paris
  • Poland – Warsaw
  • Russia – Moscow
  • Sweden – Stockholm
  • Hong Kong
  • Australia – Sydney
  • Japan – Nagano
  • Singapore
  • India – Faridabad
  • Malaysia – Kuala Lumpur

Honestly, this is one of the weaker server location selections on the entire Premium VPN market. There are hardly any servers outside of the USA and the main European countries.

For this amount of server choice, their prices should be the cheapest on the market, but they’re not, as we’ll cover below.

However, this needn’t be an issue, since the major countries you’d expect are still covered and offered, plus streaming access is strong.

Do CactusVPN Servers Support Streaming?

Honestly, the price of CactusVPN isn’t great value for money for the server selection you get. You can get budget VPNs that offer more server locations for literally less than half the price.

However, one thing that may rescue it is if the servers are good for unblocking geo-restricted streaming services. And the news on this is more positive.

CactusVPN offers widespread streaming support for all major platforms in most countries.

Here’s a list of major platforms supported per country:

  • USA – Amazon Video, Disney+, HBO Now supported (Netflix not supported)
  • UK – Prime Video, iPlayer, ITV Player, All4, My5 supported
  • Canada – CBC, TSN, SportsNet, CTV supported
  • Australia – 7Plus, 9Now, SBS, Fox Sports supported

There’s a 30 day money back guarantee if for any reason any listed service doesn’t work.

You can find a more detailed breakdown of all platforms/services supported by country on their website. But the bottom line is that streaming support is reasonable from CactusVPN, though not top of the range (and probably still not worth it for the price if I’m being honest).

For top range streaming access, ExpressVPN is always the recommended provider, though it’s even more expensive than CactusVPN.

Do CactusVPN Have Free Servers?

CactusVPN do not offer any free VPN servers that can be used indefinitely, but they do offer a free 3 day trial of their product which only requires registration with an email address.

That way, you can at least try out their product to see if you like it. Browse to their website and select the “free trial” option in the bottom menu bar. They do also offer a free proxy, but that’s not the same as a full fledged VPN.

Honestly, CactusVPN isn’t top of my list of recommended VPNs – the value for money isn’t there in the same way as it is for brands like Private Internet Access, PrivadoVPN, ZoogVPN and AtlasVPN, all of which offer more server selection for a much lower price.

But it’s there as an option if you prefer a strongly independent brand with no corporate/big tech influence.
