ExpressVPN is an interesting Premium VPN service, towards the top end of the VPN market in terms of price, but what do you get for that price in terms of servers and country choice? How many countries and servers do they offer, and where are they located?

In this guide we’ll aim to provide as much detail and precision as possible on where exactly ExpressVPN’s servers are located, including down to particular cities within countries, so readers can decide if it’s the service for them.

Here is a bottom line summary answer:

ExpressVPN has approximately 170+ server locations in total in 105 countries, with North America, The UK, Europe and Australia especially well covered for country, server and location choice. The USA is particularly well represented, with 24+ servers in 16 different cities.

However, we’ll break the topic down into much more detail, examining in detail all the server locations of ExpressVPN, and also notable countries where it doesn’t currently have servers, before comparing it’s server choice to some other VPN’s.

Unfortunately, ExpressVPN don’t list all the precise server locations in every single country that they offer servers, but they do detail server locations within the major countries where they offer multiple locations.

In all other countries, they offer one server in one location (almost always the capital city of the country).

Does ExpressVPN Have Free Servers?

ExpressVPN do not offer any free servers. You need to subscribe to their paid plan to use all of their servers. There are no free trials or limited free servers available.

There is a way in which you can get a month’s “free” use out of ExpressVPN, since they have a 30 day money back guarantee. So you can pay for a subscription, and then claim it back if you like, but you’d still have to pay your subscription upfront.

ExpressVPN vs Other VPNs For Server Choice

ExpressVPN is an interesting VPN service, because it offers the very best choice of countries available on the Premium VPN market (94), but for the actual server choice within those countries, it lags behind other VPN providers (only around 160 servers versus thousands for some other VPN services)

However, for any major country you pick (especially major countries like USA, UK, main European countries), you are likely to be able to choose from a large selection of servers in that country and location.

This can be especially useful when trying to access streaming services, where if one server doesn’t work, you’ve got plenty of others you can try in the same city/country, to try and get it to work.

But for any other country, it’s going to be one server in only one location, usually the capital city. There isn’t a great deal of server choice once you get the outside the main countries.

Here’s how ExpressVPN stacks up compared to some other well known Premium VPN services:

*Flash deals and offers are very common, so you may often find a better deal than the one listed for many providers

If you’re looking for a VPN with the most countries covered, then ExpressVPN is the best. There isn’t another Premium VPN I know of that offers more. Private Internet Access and Le VPN get close, but can’t match ExpressVPN.

If you’re looking for a more basic, no nonsense VPN with less countries covered (just the main ones), but that’s cheaper, then AtlasVPN is a good option.

If you’re looking for a VPN that offers more server choice within the countries that are offered, then NordVPN is one of the better ones, but Private Internet Access also offers more, as does TurboVPN (but they offer less countries).
