TurboVPN is an interesting Singapore based VPN service, with servers in a good number of countries, but do they offer any free VPN servers you can use without subscribing to one of their paid plans?

TurboVPN do offer a free version of their VPN, with servers in USA, Germany, Singapore and India, which can be downloaded without registering or submitting any user details. Use is unlimited but speeds are capped at 2 Mbps, and the free version does not support streaming.

However, the menu system on their website is a bit tricky, so it isn’t always obvious how you get access to download the free version of their software to start using.

Here are the quick steps to get TurboVPN free version:

  1. Click the Free VPN tab
  2. Select Free Download
  3. Scroll down page and select device/OS
  4. Download and install program
  5. Open up and select one of free servers

Let’s cover each of these steps in detail, with screenshots so you know exactly how to get the free version of TurboVPN.

How To Get TurboVPN Free Version

The free version of TurboVPN can be downloaded from their website, but it isn’t quite as straightforward as you might think, because their menu system initially tries to steer you to their paid plans, for obvious reasons. However, it is possible to download the free version without registering or giving away any details.

You have to move through the menus in a very specific order to download the free version, so we’ll show you how in step-by-step form:

Step #1 – Go To The Free VPN Menu

Go to the homepage here, and then click on the Free VPN tab towards the top right corner of the page, on the top menu bar:

Step #2 – Select Free Download

This takes you to the Free VPN page, where you’ll immediately see an orange Free Download button. Click it:

Step #3 – Scroll Down The Page To Select Device

Now this is where the tricky part is. You are then taken to page with a white Free Download button, but DON’T click this (it takes you to the paid plans). Instead, scroll a bit further down the page to the menu where you select your device/operating system instead, and click the correct one:

Step #4 – Download & Install TurboVPN Free Version

Once you click on the correct device/OS, the program file should start downloading to your device (you might need to give it a name and select where to save to on some devices). Once the installer file is downloaded, click on it again to start installing the actual TurboVPN program on your device.

Run though the setup steps and confirm – it may take a few minutes to fully install.

Step #5 – Start Up TurboVPN and Select Free Server

Once TurboVPN Free is installed, click on the Icon on your desktop/menu to start up the program.

The 4 Free Server countries are listed right at the top of the server list – click on one to connect and start using TurboVPN completely free and unlimited!

The other countries/servers listed as “VIP” are just the Premium servers that you’ll have to upgrade to a Paid plan to use.

Remember though, some caveats to using free servers:

  • They’ve only got 4 free locations (USA, Germany, Singapore, India).
  • Speeds are usable, but limited to 2 Mbps
  • They most likely WON’T work for accessing geo-restricted streaming services.
  • Once 1 device/connection allowed (5 on Premium accounts)

TurboVPN Free Version vs Other Free VPN’s

TurboVPN’s unlimited data use and selection of 4 locations make it one of the best free VPN options out there.

However, let’s see how it compares to some other free VPN services.

As you can see, you can’t really do much better than TurboVPN. It’s just a matter of which server selection you prefer. TurboVPN offer more specialized locations of Germany, Singapore and India which you can’t usually get with other free VPNs.

Most of the others offer servers in the Netherlands (Amsterdam), if this is what you prefer. And Hide.me have free servers in Canada. And all free VPN’s have servers somewhere in the USA. Tunnelbear offer a load more countries, but a very restrictive data cap with their free version.

How Much Do TurboVPN Paid Plans Cost?

If you want to use more countries/servers, or get faster speeds, or access streaming services like Netflix, you’ll need a paid plan

TurboVPN’s paid plan prices are reasonable within the VPN market. They’re mid tier – there are cheaper VPNs, but more expensive ones as well.

Here are their current pricing tiers for different length plans:

  • 1 Year – $5/month – $60 billed every 12 months
  • 2 years – $3.33/month – $80 billed every 24 months (excellent value pro-rata)
  • 6 months – $6.67/month – $40 billed every 6 months
  • 1 Month – $11.99 billed every month
